Biochar

Biochar is an agricultural-grade activated charcoal. It’s used as a feed supplement for livestock health and as a soil-conditioner.

For livestock: Biochar helps prevent worms and intestinal diseases such as Listeria, Salmonella, and E.Coli outbreaks. I have personally used it to treat Swine Wasting Disease. Add 1-2 ounces to 10 pounds of feed. Mix well.

For Soil: Biochar increases water-holding capacity and both the cation exchange and holding properties of any soil. It works like compost in that it allows soil to hold and accumulate more nutrients for plants. It also improves the soil microbiome, allowing for more production of plant-available biomineral fertility. Add entire bag to 5-gallons of potting soil, or up to 50 square feet of garden.

Discussing ways to use Biochar

This biochar is made from a particular hybrid of poplar wood for the highest absorption capacity, and it’s produced sustainably from our coppiced tree lot in a way that ultimately improves the land and soil. We create and process it all on our property.
